This was my go-to everyday shoe until the Megablast came out. I haven’t worn it in a year. I still highly recommend it.
What it is
A really soft shoe. Not a light shoe, and I don’t care, because it has a thick heel and a much stronger rocker than anything else in this category, so the weight rolls you forward instead of sitting under you. That’s the difference between this and the 1080, which is comfortable but flat, and the Glycerin Max, which is a brick.
Why I stopped
The Megablast does the same job lighter, more breathable, and more responsive. Once that existed there was no reason to lace this up. That’s not a knock on the Nimbus. It’s a very good shoe that got replaced by a very very good shoe.
Who should buy it
If you want soft, stable, and forgiving, and you don’t need it to be light, this is a great shoe. I’d also tell you the Superblast 3 competes in the exact same space and is probably better, with the big caveat that it doesn’t fit my foot. The Nimbus fit everyone I’ve ever handed it to.
Fit
Size 8. [FILL: anything about width or the heel collar.]
Would I buy it again
Probably not for me, because I have the Megablast. For a friend starting out, yes, without hesitation.

Questions I get
Is the ASICS Gel-Nimbus a good daily trainer?
Yes. It was mine for a long time. Soft, with a thick heel and a strong rocker that rolls you forward, so the weight goes somewhere. I only stopped wearing it because the Megablast is lighter and more responsive.
Gel-Nimbus or New Balance 1080?
Gel-Nimbus. The 1080 is comfortable but its heel sits lower and it has no real forward rocker. Coming from the Nimbus it feels flat.
Gel-Nimbus or Superblast 3?
The Superblast 3 is probably the better shoe. It's like a more stable Nimbus with upgraded foam. It just doesn't fit my foot, so I can't personally vouch for it the way I can for the Nimbus.
