I absolutely love this shoe. I need to say that first because everything after it sounds like a complaint and none of it is.
It’s firm
The Superblast 2 is firm. Definitely firmer than the Superblast 3, like by a mile, and way firmer than the Gel-Nimbus. If you’re coming from either of those it feels like a different category of shoe.
The rocker is the whole point
There’s no plate. What there is instead is a heavy, heavy rocker. If you try to bend the shoe in your hands it doesn’t really bend. It’s very stiff, which makes it very stable, and that stiffness plus the rocker is what tips you forward and makes you go faster without a carbon plate doing it for you. It made me go faster. That’s the review.
Fit
Size 8, same as every other ASICS I own. [FILL: anything about the upper, heel, or the magenta.]
Versus the Superblast 3
The 3 is softer by a lot and it’s the one I’d hand a new runner. The 2 is the one I reach for when I want a firm, fast, stable ride on a day that isn’t a workout but isn’t easy either. I still have a pair of the 2 in rotation. It’s not going anywhere.
Would I buy it again
Yes. [FILL: miles on the pair, and whether you’d buy the 3 or hunt for another 2 when it dies.]

Questions I get
Is the ASICS Superblast 2 soft?
No. It's firm, way firmer than the Superblast 3 and way firmer than the Gel-Nimbus. What it has instead is a heavy rocker. If you try to bend it, it doesn't really bend.
Superblast 2 or Superblast 3?
The 3 is softer by a mile. The 2 is firmer and more stable and it made me faster. I still keep a pair of the 2 in rotation, which tells you my answer.
Does the Superblast 2 have a plate?
No plate. The speed comes from the rocker, not a plate, and it feels like a very stable shoe because the whole thing is so stiff.
